Educational qualification
Applicants must have a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government, as on 1 July 2026. Candidates applying for Assam must know how to read, write and speak Assamese. A Regional Language Test will be conducted before final selection.
Age limit
Minimum age: 21 years
Maximum age: 30 years
Age is calculated as on 1 July 2026. Eligible candidates should have been born between 2 July 1996 and 1 July 2005, inclusive. Upper-age relaxation is 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), and as specified in the official notification for PwBD, ex-servicemen and other eligible categories.

All other candidates: ₹850, including intimation charges

Salary and benefits
The official pay scale begins at ₹36,290. Approximate initial gross monthly emoluments are ₹53,000 in a metro city. Allowances depend on the posting location. Other benefits are available according to NICL rules.
